It was heartening to read recently about the Extend Leadership Programme 2019 -2020, aimed at mid-career professionals working in learning and education roles in the arts and cultural sectors in England, Scotland and Wales. Knowing, at first hand, of the benefits of a similar leadership programme – involving mentoring, group project work and intensive residential courses – I am fully convinced this will be an excellent opportunity for personal growth for a future cultural leader in Wales.
The successful applicant to this leadership programme will be part of a cohort of peers working both in England and Scotland. I wish them well on such a rewarding venture. The arts and cultural sectors need more provision like this; Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, has to be commended for devising, supporting and offering this scheme.
